We genuinely care and want to be there for you.

About my practice:

Hello!

Im Irene Gyane (pronounced ‘JAN’). I thought I would add a little bit of introduction here about my approach to counselling and hopefully, you can sense my heart and passion for supporting people to work through their challenging issues.

I think that what many of us really need when we are going through difficult times is someone who will really listen with their heart and provide intuitive empathy and compassion. I chose to be a counsellor because I am not afraid to climb down to rockbottom where my clients may have fallen, hold their hands and help them navigate the tough climb up when they are ready to do so. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Compassion Focussed Therapy to support my clients through the journey of delving deep into their own psyche.

We question/challenge some deep-rooted issues from which some of the issues they may be facing stem. From a deeper understanding of themselves, together we seek answers to those issues. I am also trained in Perinatal Non-Directive Counselling which allows me to support individuals who have any personal concerns about a recent pregnancy.

I work with clients who :

  • Want to better understand themselves

  • Struggle with identity issues (sexual, racial, religious, etc)

  • Have always felt like the odd one out throughout their lives

  • Struggle with relationship and intimacy issues

  • Suffer from guilt, shame and self-esteem issues

  • Struggle with existential issues or faced with post-pregnancy termination concerns
